Assemblage #12

Start time: 18:00
Location: SPACE10
13 November, 2019

XenoEntities Network (XEN) is excited to be hosting their 12th "Assemblage" event at SPACE10 in Copenhagen. On November 13th, XEN will examine pertinent ecological questions in Assemblage #12: Rethinking Ecological Practices.

The sixth mass extinction or Anthropocene extinction is an ongoing extinction event of species during the present epoch as a result of human activity. This discussion will move between references evoked by this, raising questions about correlationism, nonhuman(/object)-oriented-ontologies, and global warming (as opposed to climate change), drawing relevant references in multinaturalism, decolonial relations, and alternative kin structures. XEN will also share a short film titled Can the Sun Lie? by Susan Schuppli as well as images from Johannes Paul Raether's Transformalor witch-character.

XenoEntities Network’s "Assemblages" are free-access discussion and research gatherings where participants propose topics and ideas for a specific theme. This time, together with the audience, XenoEntities Network will identify and reconsider the hegemonic norms that might prevail in discourses around ecology and nature while proposing a queer alternative to normative truths. Guests should feel free to bring ideas, but direct participation is not enforced nor necessary.
